How much does it cost to get in?

There is no entry fee to the market.  A gold coin donation can be made at the gate to support the work of the Rotary Club of Ballarat South both in local communities and through Rotary internationally. 

Can I bring my dog to the market?

Once dogs were not permiited to enter the Ballarat market BUT in response to requests we are running a three month trial allowing dogs into the market.

From 1st May 2017 dogs will be permitted to enter the Ballarat Market provided the owners meet the following conditions.

1. All dogs must be on leads

2. Dog owners must have waste collection bags with them. ( The Ballarat Market will provide bags as necessary)

3. Dog behaviour is subject to the Domestic Animals Regulations 2015( Vic)

4. The Ballarat market reserves the right to refuse entry to any dog.

 

 

Can you buy fresh produce at the Market?

Yes. There are a variety of stalls that sell fresh fruit, vegetables and other produce.

What days of the year is The Ballarat Market closed?

The Ballarat Market will not be operational on the dates below due to the Ballarat Showgrounds not being available.

  •  Ballarat A&P SOCIETY Spring Show - 8th, 9th & 10th November 2019 
  • Showgrounds not available to the Ballarat Market on the 10th November 2019.

The market will be operational on a Sunday(TBA) in June/July 2019 but the northern(cattle) pavillion will not be available to site holders due to the holding of the Alpacca Sheep Show.

The Ballarat Market committe trusts that this will not cause undue inconvenience but if you have any questions please contact us.

Where do the proceeds go from the entry donation?

The Ballarat Market is a 'Not for Profit' community event with proceeds invested back into the local community. Co-ordinated by The Rotary Club of Ballarat South, 100% of the funds raised by its volunteers is used to support local projects. Money raised is collected by a gold coin donation and is used to benefit local community organisation and Rotary ventures.

Do I have to book in advance or can I turn up Sunday morning and get a site?

Yes. There is no need to pre-book a site, you can just turn up on the day between 6.00am and 8.00. The earlier you are the better site you will get.

Formation of the Rotary Club of Ballarat South

The Rotary Club of ballarat South was chartered on 31st July 1967.

The Grand Opening of The Trash 'n' Trivia market

On the 18th November 1979 the gates opened for the first Trash 'n' Trivia market with four stalls.

The market is a success

At the end of the first Rotary year of operation the market had 36 stall holders and raised over $3500 for community projects. The future of the market looked rosy.
